Books of Wonder Event in New York & Photos of the Month

July 13, 2019

I am looking forward to participating in the Books & Ballet event at Books of Wonder bookstore (18th Street) in New York City on Sunday, July 21, 3 - 5 p.m. I'll discuss and sign BRAVE BALLERINA: The Story of Janet Collins as part of a panel, which will include Monica Wellington, author-illustrator of Dear Ballerina; Lydia Wellington, a dancer with the New York City Ballet; and Melanie Person, co-director of The Ailey School - the school of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. For more details, visit the Books of Wonder event page.

Photos of the Month

Books of Wonder Update: Practicing dance moves (trying to keep up!) with Lydia Wellington, a ballerina with the New York City Ballet -- at the Books of Wonder Ballet & Books event. Lydia and her mother, Monica Wellington, discussed Monica's book, DEAR BALLERINA. The kids loved it when Lydia gave them pointe shoes. Melanie Person, co-director of the Ailey School, talked about how ballet is for everyone. After reading BRAVE BALLERINA and DEAR BALLERINA, we signed our books!
