Why Meadowlarks?

 

My heart is with Meadowlark birds. Partly because of the connection to my last name and also because their behavior reflects the spirit of the books I write.

 

A few fun facts about Meadowlarks:

 

They sing while flying: I love the music of language, and Meadowlarks sing beautiful songs while perched and while flying. I write rhythmic books; many of them rhyme. I enjoy creating bouncy stories – fun to sing and/or read aloud! Stories with rhythm & rhyme help kids learn to read and promote early literacy.

 

They are cheerful:  Meadowlarks are among the first birds to sing when spring is coming. I write hope-filled books featuring uplifting stories about friendship, family, compassion, and connection. The themes of my books encourage kids to dream big and fly.

 

They are resilient: Meadowlarks are known for adapting to overcome challenges. I believe characters who solve problems with courage are excellent role models for people of all ages. Resilience is essential for growth and positive transformation.
